Overall the service was abysmal. First off, there was no host at the restaurant when we went, despite asking the workers there. Some staff flat out ignored us. Many of the tables were not cleaned up.
Then when wait staff finally came over they seemed really blasé about serving us. The waitress seemed like she couldn't care less about our order. She kept looking away or walking away mid order, so we had to repeat ourselves. Half of the menu was indefinitely unavailable. Anything that looked complicated or fancy was not available.
We finally found some food and they informed us later that a third of those were also unavailable.
The food that we did get was pretty bad- ingredients didn't taste fresh and the spices and flavors tasted really off from what the dishes normally taste like. The worst dish we ordered was a vegetable dish. The veggies were soaked or somewhat boiled in a broth with pieces of ham sprinkled on top.
The dumplings fillings were bland and the dumpling wrappers were not a great texture, they should be silky and pleasantly al dente with a bit of a bite to them, but the dough in these tasted dry and dull. I found a sizeable bone fragment in my dumpling filling.
The cold jelly noodles not only were rather flavorless but also tasted extremely mushy.
We were really surprised because the place seemed like it was a fancy/recognized restaurant from its long history in Xi'an, to the nice decor and professional looking uniforms, but unfortunately it really missed the mark.
The waitstaff was unprofessional, the menu was extremely limited and fairly expensive, and the food we were served was barely edible.
All in all, I think this place is one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to.

The ticket costs RMB 268 if you buy over the counter. It is cheaper to buy online. However, after 5pm, the tickets will cost full price at RMB 268 even if you buy online.
As a solo traveller, no one led me to a seat when I entered the hall. After sitting down, a tour guide told me to move to another table as she had 3 tables of guests. Priority was only given to tour groups and not based on a first come first served basis for solo customers. Seating was given based on a first come first served basis to tour groups as well. I had to ask 2 waitresses where I could sit down before I was shown a seat at the farthest corner of the hall. If we are all paying customers, why didn't anyone show me a seat, and even had to move me to the farthest corner of the seating area? The whole experience made me feel very unwelcome. It is very commercialised. I have a feeling that as I look Chinese and not a Westerner, I am given little priority.
I was seated in a corner where there are only 2 Chinese tour guides sitting in the corner. And the waitress keeps putting the big plates of condiments like soya sauce at the corner table. So you know it is not an important table.
The good comments on the performance definitely come from non-Chinese or those who do not watch Chinese dramas or have little contact with Chinese performances. Due to the comments, I paid a hefty price for it. The performance was so-so. I have seen better performances in Chinese dramas, and really exciting live performances in other parts of China. Some parts were boring and I almost fell asleep during those times.
It is exorbitant by China standards. Only overseas visitors would pay for it. That is why there is no Chinese face there except for the tour guides and service staff. As what the China people say, 骗外国人的钱 bluff money from overseas people. It is a rip off. Even country / city grade performances promoted by the local governments are cheaper and of higher quality and better standard. The famous Director Zhang Yimou's team with Director Wang Chaoge also directed performances which are excellent and cheaper ie. the 《印象》and《又见》 series. I live in Xi'an more than 9 years, this city is well known to me and it's called to be my second home. Xi'an is famous for the ancient history and the delicious food.
There are few Indian Restaurant in Xi'an city but Redford is the best.
Why Redford is best?
1: I have been there several times since it opened. In terms of authenticity and quality of ingredients, it is consistently good. The service is attentive and discrete. The good thing about the food here is that the dishes are clearly different, apart from that u can easily organize buffet party, Eid party, birthday party... any kinda big party at Redford.
2: Redford is located at a historic place which is called ( Datang west city, and datang west city is the staring point of silk Road), so it's a great opportunity for the tourist to visit the silk Road history Museum and have lunch/dinner at Redford at the same time.
3: Easy to get there, you can take subway line 6/5 to (Xibei gongge da xue zhan/ Xigongda) and after get off the subway you need to walk only 300m to get there.

Almost all kinds of local flavors can be found in this one restaurant. The traditional roasted chicken may tell you what a mixed pickled, steamed and fried tastes like. The bath chap is also the common choice in China if you want drink some alcohol. Oh and don’t forget try its homemade fruit wine.
The waitress is willing to answer any questions regarding their foods so don’t hesitate to ask.

Just had an incredible meal at Zhang An Belfry! As a Malaysian who favours Chinese food, I can vouch for its authenticity.
We tried the Hanger Cow Beef stomach (so tender!), the unique and spicy Duck Blood, spinach in Pumpkin Sauce, and the delicious Beef Mini Burgers. Washed it all down with a fantastic local Xi'an beer.

We‘ve been in the Cyclist after we read the positive reviews on TA. We‘ve been there on a Wednesday for diner and the location was almost empty, but the location itself is really nice and very well decorated. We had the chicken pizza and it was really tasty. The starters were ok, but nothing special. The desserts are also very tasty. In summary we had a really good evening and the staff is so friendly. A restaurant that must be treasured as a secret but also opened up for others to frequent and savour its delectable menu.
I got lost and almost gave up on finding the restaurant (blame Google maps not working in China) but also can’t blame Google maps as the location of this restaurant is inside a warehouse like building on the 11th floor.
Ambiance is very inviting. The place is well appointed. Wine selection was great (although it was Spanish and needs to be Italian), warm bread with olive oil - a trademark of good Italian restaurants - was served first with an offer for another serving that is always appreciated.
Menu had a range of pastas, appetisers, pizzas and deserts. Just a tad disappointed there was no ravioli or risotto which marks a restaurant standard higher.
I did spot a gnocchi but settled for aglio olio pasta, my companion had the pesto pasta. Dessert was a tiramisu and an absolutely divine chocolate pudding with raspberry sorbet. The sweet and tart combo was 10 on 10.
Service is very courteous and when I asked for some bread to mop up the garlicky olive oil from my pasta, I saw a sparkle in the waitress’ eyes. That told me, she likes to see her customers enjoy the creations a la Italia.

Excellent food and warm service (our waitress Thea was fantastic). This small restaurant with simple deco is a cosy and quiet place boasting a rather extensive menu of cantonese and Shaanxi/local dishes, and a very skilled chef.
Location: first floor of the convention centre building located in the middle of the hotel compound (in between Sofitel Renmin, Sofitel Legend and Grand Mercure).
Recommended dishes: braised fish head (if you don't eat fish head, skip this Chinese delicacy), soya bean curd stew, noodles (the dry beef one, and the one in a soup).
What not to eat: The dumplings are a very large portion, so if you're only a small table of 2-3 persons, I'd recommend that you skip the dumplings so that you can try the other dishes. The specialty fried chicken can be skipped too. If you do not eat Chinese food often, skip these 2 dishes and try the other dishes instead so as to widen your experience of Chinese food.
